Default New Belt - riding to high in the secodary

I replaced an Arctic OEM belt today and it is about a 1/4" above the outer diameter of the secondary. With the rear of the sled (2010 F8 SP) the track spins at idle and sqeals when on the ground. I put the old belt back on and it fit fine, then reinstalled the new belt and it again reode to high.

Can there be this much lenght difference from belt to belt? I purchased the sled new 2 years ago and have replaced the belt several times over the years and never came across this issue before.

    Any ideas?

The old belt ws worn and sat down in the 2ndary sheave Now the new belt sits higher correct? OK adjust your secondary so you have the proper belt deflection . The length has nothing to do w/ how its sits. The width is what wears and needs adjustment. If you have your owners manual it will tell you step by step how to do this procedure. I'm not familiar w Cat.
It should take about 10 minutes tops your 1st time

You want to adjust it so that the cord is just above being flush with top of sheave.
