I believe you have a leak. Come on, 60 miles to a tank and gonna say REEDS will do this????
Check and see if the tank has a crack in it. OR check and see if the fuel line is seated properly w/ the clamp in the correct place.
Possibly the float bowls were NOT properly tightened also?
I had a old 89 Exciter that only got 30 miles to the tank. Ended up being the primary clutch was f****d up.
My moms 05 xc600 classis w a m-10 was getting 80 to a tank. I re-jetted( 380's), dropped needles( 1 notch) In w/ the fuel screw and LOOSENED up the track to the point of almost racheting. She now get 110-115 to a tank. 6000 miles on the sled and runs great

if your reeds are bad I have a set of VF3 reeds (no boots) that I would make you a deal on, they were off an 04 600HO

I had one of those, I would get over 10+ mpg no problem, but I do not ride hard. my jets were stock.

LEAN IS MEAN/.........before ya dropp the needles .. GO 1 stage hotter w the pluGG, or change the main jet by 5 .. baby steps .. or ya get to do the whole motor over again! yay!..lol... oh check your air box too ... more gas = more air , if its not getting enough air your gonna be runnning to FAT..( rich ) .. iv'e noticed air filters make a huge difference! exhaust systems too....
